Child Support or Mom Support?

I was reading a blog today written by my man B. James. He was talking about the divorce battle between Nas and Kelis. I'm not a rumor follower but I was under the impression that they were happily married. Unfortunately, my assumption was incorrect. Apparently, the two have decided to divorce and the judges decision for an "appropriate" child support settlement was $55,000 a month! Now, I understand that Nas is a very popular artist, as was Kelis, so what the hell does she want with that kind of money? On one side of the continuum, there are some men who don't step up to the plate when asked, forcing women to either struggle or take the matter to the state, for child support. But at some point, do we not ask ourselves is this a matter of greed or support for the child? Is it not called child support? Why do some women feel they need a certain amount of assistance that is clearly more than enough to cover the expenses of the child yet they still feel as if they should get more to maintain some sort of lifestyle they lived while in the relationship or marriage? Men should not have to work two or three jobs to pay for your late sprint and BGE bills! Women, try taking a step back and ask yourself why cuz this ain't cute. Its Todd with a lil food for thought. "She was supposed to get your shorty Tycho with ya money, she went to the doctor got lypo with ya money, she come out lookin like Micheal with ya money should got that insured geico for ya money"-Kanye West

I wasnt really going to comment. but due to the fact that i wanted to share this link with ur blog i have to state that i am not for or against the 55k. i believe it is a tad excessive. but i do not believe that he shouldnt have to give her a "significant" amount of money. none of us are really sure of what really occurred within their marriage. but i was very disappointed that kelis was pregnant and things were going THIS BAD. through her whole pregnancy they were fussing. thats just horrible. im not saying he is rite etc but i just think men need to try xtra hard to accommodate their wives/ girlfriends/chick while they are pregnant. it just was very sad for me to read some of the details transpiring. im guessing whats sugar isnt always sweet and u think being pregnant should be a joyous time but in this case it didnt seem to be. lastly im guessing kelis is use to a certain life style. so obviously the court rewarded her THIS much for whatever reason. i agree that the judicial system favors women/ mothers and that shouldnt always be the case because i know some dads that are doing much more for the child.... BUT women have maintained for years. many women usually dont even seek child support or receive little or nothing for the care of their child/ children. there are an enormous amount of single mothers who have done it for dolo ALONE. so hey if one woman can BANK hey eff it. let it be.

lastly i think men dont understand the COST of feeding and maintaining a child and raising a child. with child care. diapers. milk. etc. its not an easy task so when i see men out here giving some bullish amount as payment for their CHILD'S EXISTENCE. it honestly disgust me. the little money u think u are giving. wont even cloth or shelter ur child.

Nas should have thought things through prior to marriage and prior to conceiving a child. all signs are always there and things like this are INEVITABLE. u can never say u did not know.

ok maybe i need to start a blog. damn it. everyone wants me to... but i dont want to.
